Daisuke is a 14-year-old boy who is anything but normal. On his 14th birthday, his first love, Risa rejected him. This rejection reacted with his DNA and made him transform into Dark. Now, whenever Daisuke longs for a girl, he transforms into Dark.

Daisuke Niwa comes from a strange family. Every male born into the family gets the ability to become Dark, a mysterious thief who hasn't been seen in forty years.

This occurs when Daisuke sees the one that he loves - in his case, Risa Harada. His 'curse' can only be broken when his first love returns his feelings...

But unfortunately for Daisuke, Risa likes Dark. And Dark likes Riku, Risa's twin sister. And Riku likes Daisuke. It's a very confusing love triangle...shape...thing...








Dark Mousy is an illusive art thief characterized by large black angel wings. Dark's last theft occured 40 years prior to D.N.Angel, when Daisuke's grandfather was the Thief. Dark's DNA has been passed through the Niwa family for generations, and when young Dai-kun finally transforms, Dark is welcomed with open arms. Especially by Daisuke's mom.

Dark Mousy is confident and can think on his feet. He's good looking and he's not afraid to show it. Dark transforms back into Daisuke when he sees the one he loves, or even just a picture of her. At first this is Rika (who looks like Risa Harada), but later on becomes Riku Harada.

At the current point in time, Dark's only real enemy is another genetic 'D.N.Angel' named Krad (Dark spelled backwards).

Krad and Dark are both part of one artwork created by the Hikari's (Satoshi's original family). It was supposed to be a living artwork, but when the Niwa's (Daisuke's family) tried to steal it, the artwork split in two, creating Dark and Krad. In the last episodes of the anime, Dark seals both him and Krad back into the artwork.

Daisuke has a pet rabbit thing named With. When Daisuke becomes Dark, With becomes Dark's wings.

Note: His name isn't Dark Mousy, it's just Dark. Mousy is just a nickname Krad gave him.

Satoshi Hiwatari is a really smart teenager who graduated from Lagoon University at the age of 13. Satoshi and Satoshi are friends. Satoshi wants to be Daisuke's friends... unfortunately, Satoshi turns into Krad when he gets too close to a friend, which is why he never goes out with anyone or has any close friends.

Satoshi dislikes Krad in the both the manga and anime because Krad is after Daisuke. Satoshi wants to destroy himself to get rid of the Hikari curse. Hikari doesn't try to kill himself until the end of the anime. Satoshi goes through a lot of pain.

Satoshi's last name used to be Hikari, but was changed when he was adopted by a man whose last name was Hiwatari.

In the manga, Satoshi has a crush on Risa, which can be seen when he uses a police excuse to ask her on a date. Also, in Book 4, I think he falls asleep on her and when she's lying on the beach after Daisuke saves her, he strokes her hair! Satoshi helps out Daisuke even though they're "enemies", which is a sign that he wants to be his friend.

Krad is the oh-so-loveable homicidal blonde of D.N.Angel. he is the alter-ego or 'DNAngel' of Satoshi Hiwatari , and Dark Mousy's most dangerous enemy. Dark Mousy's transformation into Daisuke is the main cause for Satoshi turning into Krad. At first, Krad appears to be sane and says that Daisuke should be treated with respect, then Krad goes for Dai-kun's neck. Ouch!

Krad has been chasing Dark for centuries and will stop at nothing to kill him. Krad has a bit of a 'weird' side. He is very possesive and refuses to let let anyone get too close to his host, Satoshi. Krad affectionately calls poor Sato-kun 'My everything' and would probably kill anyone and everyone to protect him.

Krad apparently tries to win Sato-kun's affection by 'eliminating the competition'. It... well... doesn't seem to work very much. Poor Krad.

Satoshi turns into Krad when he thinks a lot about Dark Mousy.
